Welcome to oriel glasfryn gallery

ABOUT THE GALLERY

  • Oriel Glasfryn Gallery is owned by Dave and Lise Roberts. Dave is a professional landscape artist and together it was their life-long dream to run a gallery that showcases the best contemporary artists and makers from across Wales. So, in 2019 they bought Glasfryn Hall, a fine country house that they are now lucky enough to call home, and they started to turn their dream into reality.

Oriel Glasfryn Gallery opened in Easter 2022.

  • Situated just off the A55 in the historic town of Caerwys. Our Main Gallery is a modern, purpose-built, space that is open all year round. It houses over 40 Welsh artists and makers from across Wales.

The Main Gallery sits within the grounds of Glasfryn Hall, a fabulous Victorian country house. We open the Hall three times a year for special exhibitions where even more artists display their work.

  • We showcase the finest original Welsh art and craft including paintings, jewellery, ceramics, sculpture, glass, textiles, wood and metalwork. In addition, an extensive range of North Wales landscape paintings by gallery owner, Dave Roberts PS are also on display.

‘Coraline Man II’ Stoneware, 27cm tall £350

  • Living in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, Gary enjoys creating ceramic sculptures. With a passion for walking in the mountains and along the magnificent Welsh coastline, he also experiments with elements and textures straight from the surrounding landscapes. He also gains inspiration from influential artists like Salvador Dali, Roy Lichtenstein, and Tamara de Lempicka to create expressive, thought-provoking ceramic figures. The use of stoneware clays, bright colours, bold textures, and repetitive patterns have become a strong aspect of his unique characters.

Dockyard, 2024 (28 x 28cm) £250.00

  • Jake Quinlan is a contemporary artist living and working in South Wales. His practice is based on the lifestyle and emotional state of the common workingman, expressed through gestural abstraction. Quinlan received a first-class-honours BA from the University of South Wales and was awarded a 2-year fellowship with 56 Group Wales, an exhibiting group of contemporary professional artists working across a wide range of media and concerns.

9ct Gold and Sapphire 'Tir' Pendant £260.00

  • Since 2009 Lydia has been working from her studio in her hometown of Cardiff as an independent jewellery designer/maker.

She uses traditional smithing techniques to create jewellery. Her inspiration often comes from the materials themselves; taking cues from the forms of the stones, minerals and precious metals she uses.

Lydia is autistic; part of which makes her sensory relationship with the world unusual. Her work is often informed by this and she frequently incorporates sensory aspects to her jewellery.

Each piece of jewellery she makes is made with the intention of inspiring the happy feeling of found treasure.
