Andrew McCutcheon

Having gained a BA(Hon) Degree in Graphic Design, Andrew spent several years working in the Commercial Art world. His formative years painting were spent developing an individual visual language - personal, expressive responses to the landscape. Andrews current painting practice is studio based using experiences and recollections from various locations with little regard to actual topographical landscape or specific constituents. “I walk a lot, experiencing and absorbing the shapes, textures and colours – seldom drawing in situ - which allows for a more creative response. Paintings are therefore abstracted but not to the extent that they cannot in some way be contextualized.”
